Get out and explore in Windsor! Head to the Windsor Meadows State Park, featuring over 140 acres of lush woods and parkland along the Connecticut River, as well as the Bissell Bridge Boat Launch, the Bissell Bridge Walkway Trail, and the Windsor River Trail, which connect Windsor to the multi-use trail system in East Hartford. Popular activities within the park are hiking, biking, boating, fishing, and picnicking.

There are many other parks located within the community, such as the large Northwest Park or Stroh Park, which offer amenities that include walking and biking trails, pools, sports courts and fields, playground, ponds and fishing, community centers, dog parks, and even a nature center, animal barn, archery range, skate park, and more. Numerous open spaces, like the Strawberry Hills Park, offer additional ways to get outside and enjoy the great outdoors and even feature boat launches for kayaking or canoeing the Farmington River.

Windsor’s public school students are served by Windsor Public Schools. The district is comprised of four elementary schools—Oliver Ellsworth Primary School, Clover Street Intermediate School, John F. Kennedy Intermediate School, and Poquonock Primary School—Sage Park Middle School, and Windsor High School.

Additionally, Windsor is home to the Academy of Aerosapce and Engineering magnet school, as well as private schools that include Madina Academy, Saint Gabriel’s School, and Trinity Christian School. Additional learning opportunities are offered by the Branford Hall Career Institute and the Baran Institute of Technology.
