Save Time & Money with Real Estate Agents Recycle

If you're selling your home, the process of sorting through years of possessions stored in your closets, attic, or basement can seem overwhelming. Many homeowners don't want to throw out household items that can be put to good use. But as the closing date speeds closer and closer, it becomes more difficult to pick out all the items that need to be recycled, items that can be sold, or items that can be given to friends, family members, or neighbors.

Real Estate Agents Recycle (REAcycle) is a win-win for you and your community. REAcycle is a program that allows homeowners to donate their unwanted furniture and household goods to local non-profits and participating organizations, which in turn supports the local community and helps the environment.

How Does the REAcycle Program Work?

You Pick Out Items You No Longer Need

As you're cleaning and decluttering your home to prepare to sell it, pick out the household items that you no longer want, such as tables and couches. Then, contact an agent who participates in Real Estate Agents Recycle. If you own a home in the Greater Hartford area, Lisa Barall-Matt partners with the REAcycle program and can handle all the details of your donation.

REAcycle Arranges the Pickup and Delivery

Your real estate agent will coordinate with REAcycle and local organizations to send your items where they are needed most. Your items will be picked up, delivered to local charities and non-profit organizations, and be recycled, repaired, or repurposed.

Your Donations Go to People in Need

Local non-profits who receive your items will keep your usable household items out of landfills and in your community.

You Receive Tax Deductible Receipts

Not only will you spend less money to declutter your home, you will receive a rebate of up to $1,000 to offset the costs of sorting and moving your donations. In addition, you'll have peace of mind in knowing that you're paying it forward to your community and keeping recyclable items out of landfills.
